Description

IC 342 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Camelopardalis, located relatively close to the Milky Way. Despite its size and actual brightness, its location in dusty areas near the galactic equator makes it difficult to observe, leading to the nickname "The Hidden Galaxy".

The galaxy has a diameter of 75,000 light-years, and it is located about 11 million light-years away from Earth. (Source: Wikipedia)

My second attempt at imaging with the EdgeHD 8 without the reducer. At the native focal length, the stars look better and I am having far less issues with the setup. However, the system is too slow and imaging at 2032mm focal length comes with its challenges, especially when it puts me at 0.3"/pixel. In any case, here's my attempt on IC 342, combining RGB from the 533MC and Luminance from the 1600MM.

I expected better master files at 30 hours, but F/10 is F/10, and there's a reason they call it  the hidden galaxy.

I did forget to collimate though, it's always something

Clear skies and stay safe!
